With around 8500 employees working in 55 manufacturing facilities across 24 countries, there can be no doubt that the Ali Group is one of the largest organisations in the international foodservice equipment industry. Yet the service offered to customers is very local, very friendly and very specialised, as Executive Vice-President Massimo Giussani explains: “We like to think that what makes us different is that, although large, we operate through small to mid size companies that retain a very close approach to the market. Each of our 76 companies has their own strategy – and every single company is a specialist in what they do.”

First Paragraph

Established 51 years ago, and with headquarters in Cernusco sul Naviglio, near Milan in Italy, the Ali Group’s extensive portfolio of companies has a customer-base that is broad, both in terms of geography and the different types of business it serves, from hotels, restaurants, cafes, schools and hospitals through to bakeries, patisseries, ice-cream parlours and fast-food outlets.

Third Paragraph

“Together, our companies offer a huge range, with a wide selection of price points and a truly comprehensive array of products. Perhaps just as importantly, we are a very solid group, which, committed to unrivalled product quality, superior value, design, energy efficiency, and first-class service and support, allows our customers to relax in the knowledge that we’ll still be around tomorrow,” says Mr. Giussani.

Forth Paragraph

Several of the group’s companies can trace their roots back more than 100 years, and include some of the most respected brands in the catering industry. As regards the Middle East, Comenda was the first Ali Group company to serve the region, opening its doors for business in the late 1970s with an exceptional range of warewashing equipment, waste disposers and conveyor systems.

Fifth Paragraph

Today, the Middle East is an increasingly important market for the group, with discerning customers relying upon it for a broad spectrum of quality commercial kitchen equipment, from cooking ranges, grills, fryers, chargrills, bratt pans, bake-off ovens and combination ovens through to blast chillers, cold rooms, refrigerated counters, display units, mixers and bakery equipment

Last Paragraph

“We do quite a bit of business in the Middle East: in fact, if you add up the sales of all of our companies we are probably No.1 in the region,” said Mr. Giussani. This success has been helped enormously by its relationship with Al Halabi, which has contributed to consistent growth across a number of the company’s brands, such as Comenda, specialised in dishwashing, Mareno in cooking, and Oem in pizza ovens. “We are very pleased with the relationship we have developed with Al Halabi,” he continues, “they are a prominent operator in the Middle East and we have been partnering with them now for over 15 years. This is one of the reasons we are enjoying double-digit growth in the region.”
