We Chat With Gulfood’s Mark Napier’

Main Photo copy  The world’s largest annual food and hospitality trade show, Gulfood is also one of the most dynamic in terms of new innovations, activities and developments, with exhibition director Mark Napier explaining: “Established more than 25 years ago, Gulfood is the most exciting food industry show a visitor can attend – the world is big and we make it smaller. There is almost no foodstuff, ingredient or element of the F&B industry that is not present. I would urge first-time visitors to be prepared for something truly amazing – the scale of the show often comes as a surprise!”

Second Paragraph copyIn terms of kitchen equipment, Mr. Napier is clear that the opportunities are huge: “With the number of F&B outlets in the UAE expected to double in the next four years, and Dubai aiming to nearly double its hotel room inventory to 164,000 rooms by 2020 to cater for an expected 20 million visitors when it hosts Expo 2020 Dubai, food service and hospitality equipment will be a particularly pertinent sector at Gulfood 2015. Market opportunity created by Expo 2020 and the city’s burgeoning hospitality sector mean there is huge market demand for leading international companies specialising in advances in kitchen design, technology and production efficiency. Gulfood is the leading platform for these suppliers to meet and network with local, regional and international hoteliers and developers – it is a very exciting proposition for the industry,” Mr. Napier says.

Third Paragraph copy2015 marks the 20th edition of Gulfood too, and is the biggest to date, with Mr. Napier commenting: “We expect to attract more than 4800 international companies from 120 countries and more than 80,000 visitors from approximately 170 countries. Visitors will have the opportunity to review the latest trends and innovations of the food and drink sectors, foodservice and hospitality equipment, as well as the restaurant & cafe industry.

“Also, at the highest level, Gulfood 2015 will host the Gulfood Leaders Events, which include the World Food Security Summit, one of the most important platforms for addressing global food security action plans and policies. The show will also play host to the Halal Investment Conference – a sector of increasing financial importance for the global food and beverage industry. Food franchising, one of the growth drivers of the hospitality market in the region, enjoys a dedicated platform this year too.

Last Paragraph copy“And as a final note, I’d like to credit Dubai. Let’s be honest, if you’re a food trade buyer there is no better place to visit than Dubai in February. This fantastic city makes business a pleasure,” he concludes.
