UAE 43rd National Day ‘Celebrating the Birth of a Nation’

b1Main PhotoThe United Arab Emirates creates history every day in modern cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi: it is a nation that defies expectations, with no precedent anywhere else in the world for the sort of growth it has enjoyed over the last 43 years.

b1Second ParagraphIt was thanks to the withdrawal of the British from the Gulf on 2 December 1971 that the UAE came into being. The country was created in line with a plan devised by Sheikh Zayed, the UAE’s first President, which called for a Federation that would pull together the seven Emirates that made up the Trucial States.

b1Third ParagraphAgreement was reached between the rulers of six of the Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm al-Qaiwain, Fujairah and Ajman), and the Federation to be known as the United Arab Emirates was formally established on 2 December 1971. The seventh Emirate, Ra’s al-Khaimah, acceded to the new Federation the following year.

b1Forth ParagraphSince that time, the seven Emirates have forged a distinct national identity, with Sheikh Zayed playing a prominent role in the country’s phenomenal success. Indeed, Sheikh Zayed has left an indelible impression on the people of the UAE, and is remembered not only for his great political gifts, but also for his humanitarian and religious works. Using the country’s enormous oil revenues, he built institutions such as hospitals, schools and universities, and made it possible for UAE citizens to enjoy free access to them. He is remembered as ‘the man who turned the desert green’, having invested oil revenues into projects to improve the harsh desert environment.

b1Fifth ParagraphToday, the seven Emirates, each unique and rich in tradition, is an essential component of the whole, with the UAE having come a long way since its independence. It is now the world’s fourth largest oil producer and has been transformed from a desert into a land with six-lane highways, lush green golf courses and architecturally stunning skyscrapers.

For over 40 of the 43 years of the UAE’s existence, Al Halabi has been supplying its cafes, restaurants, hotels, villas – in fact, anywhere that requires the very finest kitchen equipment and machinery – with unrivalled quality and service. It has grown with the country it is proud to call its home, and would like to take this opportunity of wishing the United Arab Emirates a very happy birthday on December 2!
