‘HOST: Catering to the World’s Finest’

The international exhibition of the Hospitality Industry where companies can raise their profiles and add value to their brands, as well as locating new agents and distributors, launching new products and generating considerable media interest, HOST, at Fieramilano in Italy, will be home for five days (October 18-22) to some of the most innovative and quality driven companies in the world … including Al Halabi. With this in mind, we spoke Mr. Michele Perini, President of Fieramilano, to get his views on what’s currently happening in the industry. <!–more–>

How is the hospitality industry reacting to the economic crisis?

“The hospitality, restaurant and catering industry represented at HOST are very broad, because it represents the spectrum of purely hospitality operations, as well as commercial activities or hybrid situations.

“The machinery and equipment industry alone is worth more than €2.5 billion for manufacturing and more than €1.5 billion for exports.

“Export is the real key to expansion of the markets of the sectors in attendance at HOST, since professional equipment for catering and restaurants exported to the emerging economies are growing at rates of 10% to 15% annually and account for 65% of total revenue.”

What’s the latest news with regards to HOST?

“First and foremost, I’d like to remind readers that HOST works with influential partners, such as Poli.design, in organising a number of events that lend visibility to the more progressive new ideas in the industry. This includes HOSThinking and HOST Smart Label, with key events at the exhibition designed to look to the future and reward the most innovative ideas.

“Furthermore, for the contract segment, where the style of Italian design is often what makes the difference, we have taken advantage of the invaluable collaboration of names such as Architetti Dante Benini and Pierluigi Cerri, to put together EXHIS, an installation event that will honour the tradition of Italian excellence in lifestyles and living. Work, Mind, Body and Relax are the themes that epitomize EXIHS, with an experience for every moment of the day, from morning to evening, which brings together doing well in its dual meaning of ‘doing good’, as well as ‘feeling good’.
