‘Detox Tips ‘Drink Yourself Healthy’

Today, with more toxins in the environment than ever, it’s becoming increasingly important to detox. Practiced for literally thousands of years by cultures from around the world, including those in India and China, detoxing is about resting, cleansing and nourishing the body from the inside out. By eradicating toxins, then feeding the body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying can help guard against disease and restore the ability to maintain optimum health.

One of the most popular and effective ways of doing this is through fasting for one, three or even seven days, with all nutrients coming from a selection of detox drinks, which can reduce inflammation, enhance energy, aid digestion, cleanse the liver, and promote healthy skin. Detox drinks are easy to make: there are a number of fruits, vegetables and herbs that encourage detoxification, with each having a particular component that gives support to detoxification while helping to boost the immune system and prevent chronic disease.   • Mint has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any food and is the perfect ingredient for detox drinks because it improves the flow of bile through the stomach and speeds up the digestion process, helping to detoxify the body.
  • Ginger is a highly potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent and can be added to any detox drink to help relieve bloating, constipation and gastrointestinal issues.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar cleanses the liver and lymphatic system, as well as helping to balance the body’s pH and promoting cardiovascular stimulation.
  • Lime provides vitamin C and antioxidants and aids detoxification by promoting the activity of an enzyme in the liver called glutathione-S-transferase (GST).
  • Rosemary is an extraordinary detoxifier that enhances the body’s bile flow, which is essential for fat metabolism and detoxification. It also boosts nutrient absorption and helps to reverse or prevent toxic overload.
