“10 Tips to Enjoy Winter in GCC”

The current weather is a welcome change from the blistering heat of the summer. Not only does it feel good. There are many actual benefits to the cooler temperatures, most of them revolving around getting outside and having fun! Health experts say that this time of the year makes us feel happier and more energised, and we agree. That’s why we have put together 10 top tips for having a great time in the open air!

1. Go for a run. Let’s face it the treadmill gets boring very quickly. So get out there and get your blood pumping. Running outside is extremely beneficial not only for your physical health, but for your mental health too.
2. Enjoy a picnic. This is the perfect time for a picnic. It’s a great to head outdoors and enjoy food with a view absolutely anywhere you like, from the local park through to the beach, or even head out into the desert. Instead of sitting inside your house, sit outside!
3. Read a book in the park. This can be so relaxing, feeling the breeze on your face as you turn the page. But make sure it’s not just any old book; choose one that makes you look smart, because one of the main benefits of reading outside is having other people see you concentrating something really intelligent!
4. Go hiking. This can provide such a relief from the day-to-day stresses of life. In fact, as you walk along you may start to think about hiking in the context of mindfulness and meditation. It’s no coincidence that many people have their best ideas whilst hiking.

5. Go for a bike ride. Cycling is something that just about anyone can do. It is hugely accessible. It also provides enormous opportunities for ‘just being’: take pleasure in the panoramic view, feel the thrill of a fast descent, or simply enjoy the post-ride coffee with friends.
6. Visit an amusement park. Love the thrill of rollercoaster? Then head to the nearest amusement park and scare yourself silly!
7. Take in the sunset. Pile into the car with your family and head to one of your favourite nature spots. Whether it’s the beach or a mountain the sun will look breathtaking. It can be quite an emotional experience.
8. Stargaze. Once the sun goes down, spread a blanket on the ground, get comfy, and look up at the cosmos.
9. Planet a vegetable garden. Don’t want to leave the confines of your home? That’s fine, just buy some seeds, claim a plot in the back garden, throw on some overalls, and start digging. It won’t be long before you can enjoy a truly organic, home-cooked meal.

10. Stop reading this. Seriously, go outside.
